35F10 Course Common Questions and Answers

The Common Question page is a compilation of the questions cadre seem to get asked regularly regarding Advanced Individual Training (AIT), for both Initial Entry Training (IET) Soldiers and Military Occupational Specialty Transition (MOS-T) Soldiers. Please skim or Ctrl+F on this page for subjects you don't understand or want more clarification on. If you do not see your question, please email the schoolhouse: TR-ICOE-35F10CM@army.mil

I am a Basic Combat Training graduate on leave, heading to AIT soon. What do I need to pack?

Initial Entry Training (IET) Soldiers should bring all military-issued items - nothing issued by the military should be left at home. In addition, bring all necessary medication and hygiene items, as well as some civilian clothes for when you reach the appropriate phase of training.

I am a MOS-Transfer Soldier, heading to AIT soon. What do I need to pack?

As a MOS-T, what else do I need to know before arriving at Ft. Huachuca to begin training?

Security Clearance: Security Clearance Eligibility will be verified by the 305th MI BN S2 using the Defense Information System for Security (DISS). Security Verification memorandums are NOT accepted. The minimum-security clearance eligibility for the 35F MOS is an Interim SCI (I/SCI). Your current unit Security Management Office/S2 may, if necessary, contact the 305th MI BN S2 for assistance prior to your arrival at Fort Huachuca (usarmy.huachuca.icoe.list.305th-mi-bn-s2@army.mil). Do not reach out on behalf of yourself, our S2 will not be able to assist you and will not respond to your email. Even if you do not currently have a Security Management Office/S2, do not reach out to 305th MI BN S2. Until you have arrived at Fort Huachuca, our S2 will not be able to assist you and will not respond to your email.

All students are required to be in compliance with Army Regulation (AR) 350-1 and AR 670-1 as a prerequisite to attend the 35F10 Course, unsurprisingly. All students are required to pass an Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT). Students with permanent medical profiles must provide Department of Defense (DD) Form 3349 Medical Profile or equivalent from a military medical doctor immediately upon arrival. Students on profile will complete a record ACFT in accordance with (IAW) that medical profile. All students will also be required to meet the High Physical Demands Tasks (HPDT) testing for 35F10 Course IAW AR 611-21.

Here are some things that previous iterations of MOS-Ts said would be helpful to know prior to your arrival, in no particular order:

I am flying into Tucson, AZ and have to find my way to Ft. Huachuca. Help!

If you are renting a car and driving yourself, see the Strip Maps page for visuals (or what to search for in your GPS application of choice) and the Files section for specific directions via Google Maps.

Both https://huachucashuttle.com/services/ and https://svshuttle.com/tucson-airport-ft-huachuca/ are shuttle companies that will be able to get all the way on post, to the barracks or 305th MI BN HQ building.

Where do I go to in-process and get a barracks room as an incoming student?

IET: Report to Student Holds Company (building 84402).

MOS-T: Report to your respective company (building 85402 for A Co, building 86332 for B Co, building 86302 for C Co). If you don't know what company you are assigned to, report to 305th MI BN HQ (building 85302), Rm 126 (S1 Office). There you will receive your assignment to either A, B, or C Company. Company assignments are based on the next available class start date. If unable to find personnel in the above locations, report to 111th MI BDE Staff Duty (building 51005).

For both IET and MOS-T: If there are any issues or concerns, call the 305th MI BN staff duty desk at 520-533-6750.

What will my day typically look like while in AIT?

Times may vary, but generally expect a typical day to look something like the below timeline. This will vary significantly depending on exam days, retest timelines, and various irregular or unpredictable factors.

My Soldier is graduating AIT and I am attending the graduation. Where do I go?

This will vary based on the training company responsible and the time of the year. The time is often 0800/8am, although that is subject to change. Many graduations are held at Cochise Theater, but other locations within the past year have included Chaffee Field and Veteran's Memorial Park. The best thing to do is maintain communication with your Soldier on what the graduation location will be. You can look at the Strip Maps page to see where Cochise Theater and Chaffee Field are on base, and where a graduation at Veteran's Memorial Park would be. You can also look through the Files section (bottom left of the page) and look for the detailed Strip Map Directions for those locations.

I am currently in AIT and having pay issues. What is the process to resolve it?

Coordinate with the training company Drill Sergeants. Ensure you have supporting paperwork (LES, enlistment contract or AIT orders, etc.).

Where can I get behavioral health resources?

Regardless of location or time of day/night, if you feel the need to talk to someone because you may be thinking of harming yourself or others: call 988, option 1 / text 838255 / call 844-647-1354.

If you are looking in-person on post, you can find behavioral health personnel in the Raymond W Bliss Army Health Center: go to building 45001 on post; call 520-533-5161; or visit https://raymond-bliss.tricare.mil/Health-Services/Mental-Health online.

Where can I find religious support and service information?

If you are already here, talk with your company Drill Sergeants to help facilitate any religious support or services you need. If you are trying to find out what support or services are available prior to arriving, look online at https://home.army.mil/huachuca/my-fort/all-services/chaplains (the U.S. Army Fort Huachuca Religious Support Office website). There may be additional support or services not listed on the website that can be facilitated in-person via on-post Chaplains - work with your Drill Sergeants after getting to Ft. Huachuca if this applies to you.

Can I bring my privately owned vehicle (POV)?

IET: No, IET are not authorized to have their POV at all for the duration of their training.

MOS-T: Government transportation will not be available to MOS-Ts while attending the 35F1O course. Home station units are highly encouraged to fund rental cars for MOS-Ts, and/or MOS-Ts are highly encouraged to bring their POV. However, neither the course nor USAICoE will authorize, fund, or reimburse students for any vehicle expenses. If any MOS-Ts choose to bring their POVs, please keep the below notes in mind.

Can I bring my privately owned weapon (POW)?

POWs are not authorized for IET or MOS-T. No exceptions will be granted.

I am an IET or MOS-T student, but I already know some of the information we're being taught. Can I test out of some of the exams?

No. As per the Individual Student Assessment Plan (ISAP), there is no test-out option within the course.

What is a Constructed Travel Worksheet, and why is it important to me as a MOS-T?

From DTS: https://www.travel.dod.mil/Programs/Defense-Travel-System/Constructed-Travel/

The Constructed Travel Worksheet (CTW) is used to compare costs between travel modes. Once completed and uploaded in DTS, an Authorizing Official (AO) uses information from the CTW to determine the authorized travel mode and establish any limits on reimbursement. The same worksheet is used for pre-travel and post-travel constructed comparisons. Unless your business rules dictate otherwise, this worksheet is required for en-route transportation mode(s) other than Commercial Air or Government transportation.

Both "CTW - Blank" and "CTW - Guide (SEP 2024)" are available to download in the Files section.

What 3-day or 4-day weekends will I have during my course?

Look for the "FY25 USAICoE Holiday Observances" file to see the federal holidays and training holidays that fall within your course dates. Be advised: there are times that training holidays are not observed for specific cycles due to time constraints. This means for any given cycle, students may still have class on a training holiday if there is a need to make up time in the course due to excessive holidays or unforeseen events. This does not happen frequently, but it is a possibility (for expectation management). There will never be class conducted on a federal holiday, though.
